CE Undergraduates: New Transportation Design Elective Available Fall 2025

CE Undergraduates, We are excited to announce that *CE 410: Smart Cities*, taught by Dr. Tanmoy Bhowmik, will be offered this upcoming Fall term! *CE 410: Smart Cities: "This course explores the foundations of Smart Cities with an emphasis on the design principles and data-driven technologies shaping modern urban transportation systems. Through topics like multimodal capacity, intelligent infrastructure, and urban mobility trade-offs, students gain practical insight into designing sustainable and efficient smart city networks."* - *PREREQUISITE: CE 351: Introduction to Transportation Engineering* *CE 410: Smart Cities will count as a Technical Design Elective option for Civil Engineering students. *In addition, the following courses are also approved as Transportation Design Electives: - CE 450 Transportation Safety Analysis - CE 458 Public Transportation Systems - CE 459 Transportation Operations - CE 462 Traffic Engineering Applications and Signal Timing - CE 493 Design and Operation of Bicycle and Pedestrian Infrastructure CE 410: Smart Cities will count as one of two required prerequisite options for CE 484 Capstone.
