[CEE Undergraduate Students] Announcement: CE and EnvE Program Changes for Catalog Year 2025

CEE Undergraduate Students, The Department has updated the degree requirements for the Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering programs beginning in catalog year 2025, which will go into effect in Fall term. *What is a catalog year?* The catalog year defines the specific set of requirements you need to complete a degree. T*ypically, your catalog year is the year you began the Upper Division program; *however, you may be able to use a different catalog year, and as requirements occasionally change, it may benefit you to do so. *What has changed?* Beginning with catalog year 2025, the following program requirement changes will go into effect: *Civil Engineering 2025 Catalog Year Updates:* - EC 314U is no longer required - CE 211/212 is no longer required - CE 478, a new 1 credit course, is now required for all students in the fall term preceding Capstone - 16 Technical Elective credits are now required (reduced from 19 credits) - BS CE 4-year Degree Map <https://www.pdx.edu/registration/civil-engineering-bachelor-science-2025-26-degree-map#BS-CE-4-year> *Environmental Engineering 2025 Catalog Year Updates:* - EC 314U is no longer required - Bi 235 is no longer required - CE 478, a new 1 credit course, is now required for all students in the fall term preceding Capstone - 20 Technical Elective credits are now required (reduced from 24 credits) - BS ENVE 4-year Degree Map <https://www.pdx.edu/registration/environmental-engineering-bachelor-science-2025-26-degree-map#BS-ENVE-4YR> *How does this impact me?* If you are following program requirements from catalog year 2024 or earlier, you have the choice to continue or switch to the 2025 catalog year requirements. The most beneficial path varies from student to student, and switching catalog years could have unforeseen and far-reaching effects on your course plan, so we encourage you to meet with the CEE Upper Division Advisor <https://www.pdx.edu/civil-environmental-engineering/undergraduate-advising> to determine which catalog year requirements make sense for you.
