Monday 5/5 - Friday 5/9 is PSU Research Week, a series of events that honors and elevates the exceptional research, scholarship, and creative work of PSU faculty, staff, and students. Events will take place all across campus throughout the week; keep an eye on the 2025 Research Week website for more details!

Monday 5/5
  • Mellow Monday Beginner Bike Ride, with ITE-STEP!
    • Abernethy Elementary School, 7pm
    • May is Bike Month - and in celebration, the PSU Chapter of ITE-STEP will be going on weekly group rides throughout Portland! Mellow Monday rides are an easy, social-paced route near Ladd's Addition that is perfect for beginner riders or those getting back to biking after a break. More group rides can be found on the Shift2Bikes calendar, with ITE-STEP events listed on the flier attached.
Tuesday 5/6
  • Maseeh College Open House
    • Engineering Building, 5pm - 7pm
    • Get ready for an engaging evening of exploration, innovation, and celebration of our award-winning engineering faculty! In addition to networking opportunities, lab tours, and student research posters, attendees will get the chance to hear exciting talks about groundbreaking research from Maseeh College faculty - including Dr. Thomas Schumacher on pyramid mapping and bridge preservation, and Dr. Diane Moug on revolutionary approaches to soil stability and earthquake engineering.   • Hydrosocial Stories: Water and Society through Art and Science
    • Native American Student and Community Center (NASCC), 1pm - 4pm
    • Learn and discuss how water connects us! Attend a career panel with experts from the region who work at the hydrosocial nexus, and learn from student research presentations, posters, and creative art projects. There will be food, socialization, and prizes! flier attached

  • SHPE Study Session
    • EB 310, 6pm - 8pm
    • The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is hosting an open midterm study session! Whether you're cramming for a test or facing a mountain of homework, drop by to comisserate with your fellow classmates, practice problems, and knock some assignments off your list. flier attached

  • ASCE Portland YMF Career Kickoff!
    • Colwood Golf Center on Columbia Blvd @ 1:30pm
    • Come join American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Portland Younger Member Forum (YMF) to welcome recent graduates and young professionals to the civil engineering community!     • Various Locations, Dates, and Times
    • May is Bike Month - and in celebration, the PSU Chapter of ITE-STEP will be going on weekly group rides throughout Portland! Feel free to join as many or as few rides throughout the month as you would like; these events are a great opportunity for bicyclists of all abilities to meet friends, find fun events, and connect with each other and the community!   • "Moving Forward: Funding Our Transportation System" with Earl Blumenauer
    • SMSU 296, 4pm
    • Transportation agencies in Oregon and beyond face severe funding challenges, without enough money to maintain or improve infrastructure and programs. Why can’t we move forward and adopt new sustainable transportation finance systems? How might new solutions improve everyday travel?
